Students will be in a jazz band/combo, attend jazz history workshops, listen to music of jazz masters, practice ear training, and study jazz improvisation.

Play jazz? This is for you. Never played jazz? This is for you. All concert band wind instruments (including flute, clarinet, Euphonium, etc.) and drum set, piano, bass, and guitar, are accepted. Each week builds on the last – registration for all three weeks is recommended.

Students will perform in a jazz band/combo with others of the same playing level, go to
masterclasses, study jazz improvisation, and attend jazz history/listening/ear training workshop
sessions.

The dates are June 9-12 (session 1), July 7-10 (session 2), and July 28-31 (session 3). Each
session is four days long, Monday-Thursday from 9:00 -11:45 am at MSUM, Roland Dille Center
for the Arts, Moorhead, MN. $275 tuition – this pays for all 3 sessions.

● No jazz experience is needed.
● All concert band wind instruments, drum set, piano, bass, and guitar are accepted.
● Advanced theory classes are available.
● There are no refunds, but transfers to another student are possible.

We highly encourage attending all three sessions, as each one builds upon the previous. However,
you’re welcome to register for individual sessions as your schedule allows.
